The 2022 edition of the Permanent Seminar Series A Bridge between Two Worlds: the Disciplines with a Historical Vocation and the DHs will be held as virtual events between March and May 2022 (First Cycle) and between September and November 2022 (Second Cycle).
The initiative aims to become a place of encounter and constructive debate between scholars of the textual and linguistic disciplines with a historical vocation and scholars of Digital Humanities.
The general questions underlying the seminars of the series are the following ones: (i) How do DHs contribute to (historical-) textual and (historical-) linguistic research, offering possibilities for extrapolation, management and manipulation of data not possible with traditional study methods? (ii) How does (historical-) textual and (historical-) linguistic research change and obtain new results but, even before that, ask itself new questions, thanks to the use of digital tools and resources? (iii) What are the directions of development and the objectives that DHs could or should set themselves in the coming years in the field of (historical-)textual and (historical-)linguistic studies, to actively contribute to the increase or deepening of knowledge in these sectors? (iv) How could or should historical disciplines interact fruitfully with DH research?
Ideally on a monthly basis (usually on Thursday from 15:00 to 17:00), each meeting will put either two scholars (one for each “world”) or a speaker and a discussant (or more than one) into dialogue on a specific topic.
The ambition, in the medium and long term, is to bring the Permanent Seminar Series, through its promoters CNR-ILC (through CoPhiLab), UniVe (through VeDPH), AIUCD and CLARIN, to become a privileged meeting place to re-establish a closer relationship among those who study texts and languages from a historicist perspective – whether they have a DH profile or they have a background and/or interests of a “traditional” type.
Information about Registration (free of charge but necessary to receive connection details) will be provided in DiPText-KC Web site.
Stay tuned!
